Mutual Fund
A collection of stocks, bonds, or other securities purchased and managed by an investment company with funds from a group of investors. Mutual funds are sold only be prospectus. Balanced Mutual Fund
A mutual fund whose objective is a balance of stocks and bonds. Balanced funds tend to be less volatile than stock-only-funds.
Municipal Bond Fund
A mutual fund that specialized in investing in municipal bonds. Bond funds are subject to the same inflation, interest-rate, and credit risks associated with their underlying bonds. As interest rates rise, bond prices typically fall, which can adversely affect a bond fund's performance.
What is an Annuity?
An insurance-based contract that provides future payments at regular intervals in exchange for current premiums. Annuity contracts are usually purchased from banks, credit unions, brokerage firms, or insurance companies. Any guarantees are contingent on the claims-paying ability of the issuing company.
